More people are looking to travel to Poland for surgery like hip operations, especially US residents, according to one company.
Kari Group, which specialises in medical travel to other countries, says more people from America are travelling to the European state to reduce their medical bills and to be treated by English-speaking doctors.
The country is identified as being ideal as it has close links to other European cities, where many US residents like to stay before and after the operation, and is also has a similar standard of care as many surgeons and doctors are associated with US hospitals.
Findings released by healthcare researchers at the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions earlier this year found around 750,000 US residents now travel abroad for their treatment.
It also predicts around six million will have received treatment in other countries like Poland by 2010.
Kari Group states: "Research shows that Europe is currently the only continent where medical guidelines, quality, and safety meet or exceed North American standards and medical travel industry is noticing a substantial shift in that direction."
