An organisation is organising an event for healthcare professionals which is designed to raise awareness of the needs of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers.
The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is hosting Lifepsychol 2009 between July 7th and 8th, which is organised by patient and professional groups and aims to highlight the need for social and psychological support.
A key presentation at the event will be What Does Quality of Life Mean To Patients?, which intends to survey those with the disease about the subject at hand.
"The organisers thought it would be important to actually ask people with people with a long term condition some questions on this topic. The plan to report the results of the survey at the conference," the group states.
The NRAS website contains the questionnaire, which asks viewers to complete ten questions which the organisation hopes will allow the issues to be highlighted.
Recent research by the University of Vienna has found that the longer patients spend in remission from arthritis the less damage the disease causes to their joints.
