Concept of the ReCap Hip Resurfacing System

The ReCap Metal on Metal hip resurfacing system removes a minimal amount of bone from the femoral head and acetabulum. Compared with a Total Hip Arthroplasty, hip resurfacing is a less traumatic procedure, which reproduces the natural patient anatomy reducing the risk of leg lengthening. It combines a cemented femoral resurfacing head and a thin (3mm thick at the rim) uncemented closed pore porous coated acetabular component.

A range of oversized acetabular component (thicker than the standard shell) can be used with the femoral resurfacing heads should a mismatch between the acetabular diameter and the femoral head diameter exist.
