ArCom

ArCom Polyethylene

ArCom Polyethylene provides a bearing material that has a proven clinical history of low wear1.

Launched in 1995, ArCom Polyethylene broke the mould for orthopaedic polyethylene processing and became the first polyethylene to be manufactured completely ‘in-house’; from resin to finished component.

It was the first polyethylene to be packaged in ARgon and undergo COMpression moulding manufacturing techniques, hence the name ArCom.

  • Isostatic and Direct Compression moulding techniques
ArCom achieves better consolidation and hence mechanical performance than Ram Extruded or Sheet Moulded polyethylenes.
  • Packaged in Argon
ArCom is protected against oxidative degradation during packaging, sterilisation and storage.

ArCom has demonstrated impressive clinical results:

  • 99.2% at 11 years survivorship2
  • 96% at 10 Year survivorship for 14,704 units
