Porous Plasma Spray Titanium Coating

 Porous Plasma Spray

Porous Plasma Spray (PPS) titanium coating is an integral part of the Biomet cementless portfolios in Hips, Knees and Extremities.  Since its launch in 1981, PPS has provided better fixation for implants and offers over 25 years of clinical results.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Initial implant stability through a scratch-fit fixation obtained by enhanced surface roughness.
  • Maximised short and long term in growth through a random, unconnected pore size distribution.
  • Creation of a sealed barrier to migrating debris particles, reducing the likelihood of osteolysis.1
  • Mechanical interlock with the substrate, resulting in nearly a two-fold increase in fatigue strength when compared with sintered surface coatings.2
