Hints and tips for avoiding osteoarthritis of the knee

Suffering a knee injury whilst young increases the likelihood a person will develop osteoarthritis when they are older, it has been reported.

And, according to the Observer, the increase in risk cannot be ignored.

People who have had knee problems in their youth are three times more likely to have osteoarthritis when they are 65 years old.

What's more, the news provider claims that damaged joint cartilage can amplify the symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, such as joint pain.

So the Observer suggests that people take care of their knees and do whatever they can to prevent knee instability, as this will reduce the number of mobility problems they encounter when they get older.

The health-news provider stated: "Maintaining strength in your hamstrings and quads protects the joint.

Specific injuries benefit from specific exercises (another reason to see a doctor), but generally those using the entire limb like squats and step-ups are best for keeping the knee's supporting muscles coordinated."ADNFCR-2255-ID-19776538-ADNFCR
