Leading actress Jane Fonda has undergone a knee replacement operation to correct a problem with the joint, a source reveals.
The film star, who has been in movies including 9 to 5, Barbarella and The China Syndrome, has already had a hip replacement operation, the BBC reports.
In her blog, the actress writes: "For years I ran on it and skied. I am remembering the girlhood scabs from falls off my bike. The splinters and bruises."
She has included a photograph of her pre-operation knee signed with the initials of the surgeon who will be performing the procedure, the source reveals.
While she has written that she will miss the joint, she says this is because her husband has a particular fondness for her knees.
In addition to her film career, the 71 year old has also hit headlines for her political activism, her role as a fashion model and fitness videos during the 1980s.
