Over 50s with knee replacement surgery on the horizon could find useful information in a new e-book released about the procedure.
Available from Lulu.com, the new e-book has been designed to complement the information given by doctors to knee replacement patients.
Included in the 35-page publication are facts and valuable tips, written by previous knee replacement patients, to help people prepare for the surgery and aid their home recuperation.
The team behind the e-book claims that undergoing a total knee replacement is "scary enough" but that a lack of preparation can "frustrate you even more".
"All areas of your life are affected while preparing for and recuperating from this major surgery," said the publishers.
"Learn from someone who has been there and wishes a book like this existed when she was preparing for her total knee replacement."
Expert William Walter recently told the 2009 Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Spring Meeting that obesity in patients can make performing knee replacement surgery more difficult.
