Personalised joint replacement components are 'amazing'

A knee replacement surgery patient has claimed that personalised joint replacement components offer "amazing" results.
Speaking to WCTV, Irma Minott said that seven months after surgery, she was able to "run right behind [her doctor], which to me was amazing because I [previously] couldn't do that".
Her surgeon, Dr John Stanton told the news provider that after injections proved ineffective, surgery was the only option for Mrs Minott.
Commenting on the benefits of joint specific implants, Dr Stanton said: "The implant is not just close to fitting or gender specific, but it is patient specific."
He added that directly after surgery, the customised device resulted in "normal alignment, and the pressure [had] shifted back into the middle of the knee".
"These implants really cover the bone nicely and distribute the weight as well so you have good coverage of the bone, and this again should give a long-lasting result," Dr Stanton concluded.
Earlier this year, Dr Patrick Meere told the New York Times that there is no longer a universal formula for hip replacement surgery.
