Water workouts could cut osteoarthritis risks

Doing water workouts can ensure people with severe joint pain continue to get the exercise they need as it reduces the pressure put on a person's bones and joints.
According to EmpowHer, exercising under water also has significant benefits for those with complications related to their arthritis.
Writing for the women's health news provider, Joanne Sgro said: "One of the best ways to stay one step ahead of your arthritis is by literally walking under water. You can walk in the shallow end of the pool to get started.
"Be sure to walk with a heel, ball of your foot and then toe stride to get the benefits of working all of your muscles."
She added that for those who want to take their exercise routine "to the next level", deep-water walking with a flotation belt can make water workouts more challenging.
Recent research published in the Journal of Rheumatology noted that weight loss or exercise programmes can be used to delay the onset of osteoarthritis.
